Cadiz will be the sixth stop of the SailGP.

The next 9th and 10th of October Cadiz will host the international championship of flying catamaran, SailGP. This catamaran competition takes place in different locations around the world every year, and for the first time, this event it’s taking place in a spanish city.

The Spain Sail Grand Prix will use different locations of the Bay of Cadiz, including the cities of El Puerto de Santa Maria and Rota. The naval base will give logistic support to the organization, and in the city of El Puerto de Santa Maria, the Ciudad del Puerto pier will be used as a technical area, meanwhile in the center of the city will be installed the boxes of the eight teams.

How will the championship take place?

The SailGP Championship consists of eight events around the world during the season. Each event is two days long, with six regattas for each Sail Grand Prix: five fleet regattas and the final. The first day consists of three fleet regattas, and in the second one, takes place the two remaining regattas and the final, the last regatta of the event.

The city of Cadiz will have the best part of this international contest. From the Mirador de Santa Barbara and the Baluarte de la Candelaria it will be possible to watch the regattas for free. It’s, without a doubt, a perfect location to enjoy this singular event. Also, the SailGP organization with the Bay of Cadiz Transport Committee, will be offering to the audience the possibility of going on board of one of the official ships and live the full experience of an extraordinary and amazing competition on the first row.

The Sail Grand Prix will take place the 9th and 10th of October and there will be activities related to the competition from 11:00 to 16:00, and the regattas will be celebrating from 16:30 to 18:00.
