The half marathon of Madrid is a sporting event of great tradition and with a lot of history. Its first edition took place in 1989 and over the years it has been gaining in importance and number of participants. In recent years, more than 20,000 runners have gathered to enjoy a Madrid placed almost exclusively at their disposal. In fact, running is a sport that increasingly raises more passions between professionals and amateurs.
The appointment is next April the 8th, 2018, and the registration period is now open.
This year a participant who is practically indispensable is joining the race: technology. Through an app, available soon, runners can access to exclusive content, such as videos and photographs of the route, check their race number and classification, race data, etc. It will also allow participants to compete with their friends thanks to a GPS that will transmit in real time the position of each runner.
During the tour numerous snapshots will be taken that will be associated to each participant so that they can acquire their personalized report at the end of the race. This is possible through a facial recognition test that aims to make the popular «selfies» obsolete.
Along with the half marathon (21.1kms), the ProFuturo race (5kms) is held, whose proceeds will go towards the solidary goal of procuring digital material for didactic purposes in disadvantaged areas of Africa, Asia and Latin America.
