The Covid-19 virus affects the city of Seville, as it is affecting almost all of Spain. However, there is no need to worry as of the 149 people who tested positive none of them were admitted to hospital as they are recovering at home and/or are asymptomatic.

Seville is a big city, with about 800,000 inhabitants, and, to date, 149 people have been tested positive in Covid-19. Also, Andalusia with population of 8,000,000 people, the region where Seville is located, has only 1008 cases of people tested positive in Covid-19.

The whole truth about the coronavirus (Covid-19)

In addition, the medical criteria for Covid-19 are always the same: The most common symptoms of Coronavirus are fever, tiredness, and a dry cough. Some patients may experience aches, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and appear gradually. Some people become infected but do not develop any symptoms and are not sick. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without any special treatment. About 1 in 6 people who get Covid-19 develop a serious illness and have difficulty breathing. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, heart problems, or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness. About 2% of people who have contracted the disease have died. People who have a fever, cough, and shortness of breath should seek medical attention.

For better prevention and better care of the population at risk (people over 65 years old and/or who have already been ill), a 15-day alert state has been decreed throughout Spain. In which only pharmacies, supermarkets and petrol stations will be open, which means that the population will not be able to leave their homes when necessary.

In addition, Seville has private and public hospital services and a high-quality, modern, very fast and effective health care, so that, in case of any disease, virus or pathology, the people receive immediate and safe care. You can see the current data of the coronavirus in Spain here.

How to prevent coronavirus?

Your health is our priority and that’s why we want you to have official information. To this end, we want to reinforce the general recommendations of the World Health Organization on prevention:

  • Hand washing. Often thoroughly and using soap and water or an alcohol-based disinfectant.
  • Cover up when sneezing or coughing. With the inside of your elbow. If you use a tissue, it should be discarded after use.
  • Not feeling well? If you cough and have a fever, it is recommended that you stay home. If you don’t feel better, you should call the health authorities.
